Volunteers in the White City

ReO/DisO was held in the costal town Mejía. To get there, we had to go through Arequipa “la ciudad blanca” (the white city). It's a city that definitely deserves its nickname. Check out the pics from both Arequipa and Mejia after the jump.

Bomb sandwiches made with plantains, eggs, onion, and freshly picked avocado at the Jesuit residence in Arequipa

The Jesuit parish of Arequipa.
It has a stunning chapel devoted to Saint Ignatius. Check it out if you're ever there.

A difference between Boston and Arequipa culture:
In the public parks in Boston, there are signs telling you not to feed the birds,
In the plaza of Arequipa, there are municipal workers who sell birdseed.
Kids everywhere prefer Arequipa's way of doing things.

Oh to see the ocean again!
